Are the extensions free?
Yes — both Jumpstart Newtab and Jumpstart Search are completely free. No account, no subscription, no hidden tiers.
Do I need both extensions?
No. Each works perfectly on its own. Jumpstart Newtab uses whatever default search engine your browser already has, and Jumpstart Search works with any new-tab page. They're simply better together.
Why are they two separate extensions?
The Chrome Web Store's single-purpose policy requires every extension to do one thing. A new-tab dashboard and a default-search-engine change are two different purposes, so they ship separately — and you stay in control of exactly what's installed.
What data do you collect?
Jumpstart Newtab stores your settings locally in your browser. Weather uses your location only if you allow it, and it never leaves your device except to fetch the forecast. Jumpstart Search registers the search provider and nothing more — no browsing access. Details in our Privacy Policy.
Can I customize the dashboard?
Absolutely. Every module — search, quick links, weather, quotes, focus list, even the Runner mini-game — can be switched on or off, and you can choose between light and dark themes.
